Origin

Virtua Fighter

Akira Yuki is a Japanese martial artist and the main protagonist of the Virtua Fighter series. He is a student of the Bājíquán Chinese martial art (known as Hakkyokuken in japanese), which he learned the basics from his grandfather, owner of the family's dojo. He is the canonical winner of the Second World Fighting Tournament (Virtua Fighter 2).

In the video games, Akira is a stereotypical fighting game cold-headed main protagonist with a passion for martial arts (Kung Fu in particular being one of his hobbies) and a strong desire to perfect his Hakkyokuken skills through the various martial arts tournaments he participated in, his main life goal being to learn "the true meaning of strength". Ever since he was defeated by the Jū-Jutsu fighter, Kage-Maru, in the first Virtua Fighter game, he's held a grudge against him and sees him from there on as his main rival. In the Virtua Fighter anime however, he has a much more unique and developped personality and backstory. Having been instead trained since childhood by his grandfather, Akira was disowned by him after he lost sight of the true meaning of martial arts while fighting for glory and prizes (seen in the fact he could no longer see in the sky the "Eight Stars", which only a true martial artist at heart could see). After encountering Pai Chan, a teenage Hongkongese girl his age who was at risk of being kidnapped by the evil martial art organization and crime syndicate "Koenkan" to be forcefully married to its chief, he became part of a long adventure where he had to both protect her from their schemes and to fight against the Koenkan. In the anime, Akira is a jovial light-hearted goof but also someone who takes deep at heart martial arts (being furious when they are used for power), the wellbeing of others and defending those who cannot defend themselves. He deeply loves to eat food as part of his life philosophy.

In M.U.G.E.N, Akira has been made by Ryon.

Ryon's version[]

RyonAkira

Being based on Akira's appearance in the anime crossover fighting game Dengeki Bunko : Fighting Climax, Ryon's version of Akira Yuki is a short-ranged three-buttons character that, despite having a diverse moveset, isn't as capable of dealing and chaining effective combos as the original it is based on, relying more on defence than offence. Being as hard to effectively main as only Akira Yuki can be, it seems this quite weak Akira has still a lot to learn about strength.
