This article is about the character from the Street Fighter series. For other characters also named Alex, see Alex (disambiguation).
Alex is a character from the Street Fighter series, first appearing as the main character of Street Fighter III. He is a wrestler who appears heavily built, wearing green pants with a red headband. Street Fighter V depicts a younger version of him, which supports his pants with red suspenders. He has many traits inspired by Hulk Hogan and the manga character Devilman, such as his red body paint and blonde hair.
In the Street Fighter III series, Alex goes after Gill, who seriously injured Tom, his master and late father's friend. With his mind primarily on revenge, he had won every match in the World Warrior tournament, and while able to defeat Gill, did not get the chance to kill him. Once he realizes that Tom had fully recovered from his injury, he no longer focuses on revenge, instead opting to focus on finding worthy opponents to fight at the recommendation of Ryu. Street Fighter V expands upon some of his life before the Street Fighter III series, seeing him being kidnapped by Shadaloo for a failed experiment and fighting multiple simulated opponents, including Ryu, who manages to inflict a scar on his upper cheek. Outside of these games, he has also appeared in Capcom Fighting Evolution and the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom games.
In M.U.G.E.N, Alex has been made by various creators, most notably GM and Most_Mysterious/The_None. Many versions of him take from his appearance in the Street Fighter III games, but Dragon972's version and The_None's later version take from his appearance in the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom games, with the former using digitized sprites from the games themselves and the latter loosely basing itself on his gameplay in Ultimate All Stars.
GM's version[]
GM's Alex is a rather faithful take on how he plays in Street Fighter III: Third Strike. He is a hybrid grappler who has many threatening options in his command grabs and approaching tools, but lacks in the combo and mix-up utility needed to complement said options. Players who want simplicity and high damage may enjoy using him, but will struggle against characters with more varied offense.
