Aside from his guarding mechanics being changed to better fit with traditional fighting games, this funky feline is otherwise faithful to his source game. This means that he comes with very fluid and cartoony spritework, and fast-paced Marvel vs. Capcom-esque combo ability with his Normals.
Captain Cat Kit is a seven button character, using for kicks, for punches, and Ⓢ for both a taunt and activating a Guard Cancel. The strength of an attack is generally denoted by the button used to activate it, though this doesn't apply to his Hypers. Captain Cat Kit has both a forward and backward dash which function similarly to Roll Dodges, in that they allow Captain Cat Kit to pass through opponents. Captain Cat Kit also has one extra Normal, activated with [ ]Ⓨ, and an air throw, activated with [ ]Ⓨ / Ⓩ while near an opponent in the air.
As Captain Cat Kit is intended to be mostly accurate to the source game, his gameplay style is notably similar to that of Marvel vs. Capcom, with fast-paced moves and an emphasis on chaining Normal moves together. Captain Cat Kit is able to chain all of his Normals into eachother regardless of its button assignment or whether or not it was previously used, and is also able to Cancel into a Special or Hyper. Most of his Normal moves can chain into eachother very well, with one notable exception being his standing Ⓑ Normal, which acts as a .
Captain Cat Kit's Specials effectively act as combo-enders, as they cannot be cancelled out of whatsoever. / acts as an dash attack that comes in a variety of different motions, with the variants arcing upwards at higher strengths depending on the button, while the variants simply go forward at faster speeds depending on the button. launches the opponent far away upon hit, though it has a deceptively small hitbox despite the large cyclone of notes that appear over Captain Cat Kit upon the move being used. is somewhat difficult to hit opponents with due to the giant gap between the blue and red hitboxes, creating a blind spot for the opponent, but can hit multiple times if the higher-button variants are used. attempts to hit the opponent with a short-range attack, and if successful, launches them towards the other side of the screen and inflicting ; notably, this is the only Special to not have variants based on the button used to activate it. is possibly unfinished as it deals due to a total lack of red hitboxes, though the angle of the move can be affected by the button used to activate it.
Like his Specials, Captain Cat Kit's Hypers also act as combo enders, and do not get affected by the button used to activate it. Unusually, all three Hypers require 1024 Power, instead of the more conventional 1000 Power. / summons two giant speakers on both sides of the opponent and fires a series of notes, which upon contact slow the game down to half-speed and can deal a good chunk of damage. / doesn't deal much damage at all, and instead acts similarly to the Special, though the animation lasts much longer and the move is . Guard Cancel acts as a counter attack, but is otherwise similar to / in that it is and throws the opponent towards the other side of the screen.
Captain Cat Kit does not have an A.I., and instead uses M.U.G.E.N's default AI. He tends to jump around and use /, making him somewhat predictable and easy to counter, and therefore easy to beat.
