Chain Chomps are recurring enemies in the Super Mario series that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3. Chain Chomps are large, heavy and physically tough creatures with a mouth consisting of many sharp teeth and a chain protruding from their backs, this chain usually being connected to a stake which is planted into the ground to prevent the Chain Chomp from moving outside of a small radius.
Chain Chomps are frequently portrayed as having traits similar to canines, such as barking at nearby intruders or attempting to bite them, which means that they are often used as guard dogs within the Koopa Troop; a Chain Chomp that does not have a chain or doesn't have its chain connected to a grounded stake may be provoked into chasing after anything it sees. A Chain Chomp can be one of many things summoned via an assist trophy in Super Smash. Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, where it will damage any fighter that comes into contact with it.
In M.U.G.E.N, Chain Chomp has been made by N64Mario under the name of 'Chomper'; it attacks by ramming, biting and crushing opponents under its extremely heavy weight.
N64Mario's version
Chomper is a large and powerful character. It can bite enemies repeatedly, ram into them, shake the earth, roll over them, jump high into the air and crush them under its weight, and grab them with its sharp teeth, from where it can either suplex the enemy, throw them behind it, or eat them and munch them repeatedly before spitting them out. It also has four Fatality-like finishing moves. It is incapable of blocking attacks, however, and is very poor at fighting characters that float, like Lakitu, Super Metroid or Master Hand.
