Enguarde the Swordfish (also known as simply Enguarde) is an Animal Friend in the Donkey Kong franchise who first appeared in Donkey Kong Country and appearing in nearly every installment since.
Enguarde facilitates swimming, and his pointed bill can be used to attack enemies, which is the only way to defeat enemies in water levels. In Donkey Kong Country 2, Enguarde gained the ability to use the Superstab, which allows him to swim continuously until he hits an unbreakable wall after charging. Enguarde only appears in water levels for obvious reasons.
In M.U.G.E.N, Enguarde has been made by Suigyo and syu takazaki. Suigyo's version uses custom-made sprites and takes gameplay cues from Guilty Gear, while syu takazaki's version uses sprites from the original Donkey Kong Country game.
Suigyo's version
One would expect Enguarde to be a fish out of water when it comes to fighting games, but this character shows that not only can he live outside of water, he can also swim freely through the air like it was still the ocean. Enguarde's gameplay is similar to that of the Guilty Gear series and thus sports several mechanics from those games, such as instant-kill moves and high comboalility, though his attacks are weak to compensate for this.
