This little Powerpuff girl was actually the very first character from the series to ever be created. She would soon become a well known base to create Omegapsycho's Blossom and 007's Bubbles with varying changes. Her moveset is loosely based off of the original series with some custom features sprinkled in.
Buttercup is designed as a six button character, although she normally only uses 4 of the six buttons. Staying true to the original character, many of her attacks are focused on a fairly aggressive playstyle, as she contains many moves designed to either keep away or knock back her opponent. However, She does not have many options to handle enemies that are right in front of her, so if the opponent manages to corner her and put pressure on her, she will have a difficult time defending herself.
Buttercup's comboability is very limited. None of her moves are able to combo into each other properly, with most of her combo chains coming from her multi hitting supers. This means that she usually has to rely on raw damage in order to defeat her opponent. Unfortunately, many of her attacks are very telegraphed and easy to block and punish. This, along with her limited comboability puts her at a massive disadvantage as she can often struggle to do any damage to the opponent.
This is partially made up by her high damage output. Many of her attacks do an unusually high amount of damage for fairly low risk. This is especially apparent with her super attacks, with many of them being able to take large chunks of her opponents health. Her supers are also very inexpensive, with them all able to be used at level 1. This means that if she does manage to hit her opponent, she can pack a massive punch. Despite these positives however, this does little to make up for her shortcomings and she remains a mediocre character.
Her A.I is very defensive. Preferring to guard most attacks and rarely initiate, and to anti-air if the opponent attempts to jump away.

Buttercup has a glitch where if she is flying and goes into block state, she will be stuck blocking until hit by her opponent. If the opponent gets killed in a simul match and Buttercup is still in block state, she will remain this way and the game will have to be restarted to continue.
