With the ambition of one-upping Warioman's version, Zobbes' take at the always-failing pussycat has ideas that make him more advantageous than normal; he has Normals that are linkable into themselves, a club that can either be smashed or thrown, a Butch assist with a fast projectile, and a Hyper that is able to juggle afterward if the player is fast enough to press a button.

Gameplay[]

TomZStand

Tom is four-button character that uses X, A, Y, and B for his attacks, with attacks using X and A being light attacks and attacks using Y and B being hard attacks; Z and C also appear to function, but they only create debug flood and have no other functions aside from that. His crouching Y is a launcher, and his aerial Normals all have an odd nature, with his aerial X and A being more suited for neutral-jumping air-to-airs and his aerial Y and B knocking down the opponent; his Specials also follow a condition of use where moves using light buttons are normal attacks and moves using hard buttons are EX Moves, which are a stronger variant of the move at the cost of 500 Power. Tom also has multiple movement options, including the standard forward run and backdash alongside an air-jump and a Super Jump, which is similar in function to the Marvel vs. Capcom series but only travelling in a set direction.

Tom has a basic comboing system, being able to chain Normals into Hypers, but not being able to chain Normals into Specials; he can also link his Normals into the same or other Normals due to their fast recovery time, but these are also able to lead into infinites for the same reasons. Tom is also able to cancel his crouching Z into a Super Jump and follow up with a pursuit attack, but he cannot do any long aerial raves due to his Normals only being linkable and the lack of any air-based Specials. His aerial Y and B can also not be used as jump-ins due to their knockdown property, but can be used in air-to-ground situations and can allow Tom to distance himself; however, he can follow up the knockdowns with his crouching A, which hits OTG.

Tom's moveset has moves usable in close and far ranges, creating the ability of rushdown, keepaway, and runaway playstyles. Bat Slam is a melee attack that creates a small amount of distance between Tom and his opponent; its B version, however, is a soft knockdown and distances them further, depending on where Tom is. Bat Throw and Assist Butch are both projectiles, with Bat Throw being a simple projectile with a slower speed, but Assist Butch being an assist that calls in Butch Cat to throw an egg, giving Tom less startup time and the projectile not coming out until Butch throws it; the egg's projectile speed is fast, which allows Tom to combo from it, but only into other Normals or Hypers as mentioned earlier. Tom's Hypers are mainly close-range, but function almost identically; Fighting Thomas and Tom Cat Barrage are both auto-combos, but Fighting Thomas moves Tom forward and uses multiple attacks, while Tom Cat Barrage is mostly based on Bat Slam. Both attacks are soft knockdowns, but Fighting Thomas allows air juggle after the initial attacks, which can be abused to combo into an attack that leads into an infinite.

Tom has a custom A.I. that partially uses functions of the default A.I. It jumps and blocks at times, but uses random moves at random intervals; it can be defeated easily if the player does not get too close to it and attacks from a far range. Moves like projectiles that are able to zone him out or attacks that generally cover a long range can be used to exploit this factor, but if a move that fits the latter description is used, the player will have to move away from him in some form.
