Master Big Catfish (known as Oo Namazu in Japan, sometimes referred to as Giant Catfish) is a villainous avatar of Taisui Xingjun and the final boss of Hong Meiling's story mode in Touhou Hisoutensoku. Very little is known about Master Big Catfish other than its appearance and plans to cause various disasters throughout Gensokyo, which it attempted to achieve by first attacking Hong Meiling and draining her power so that it could escape to the real world.
During the events of Hong Meiling's story mode, Master Big Catfish is sent by Taisui Xingjun along with assassins, which were pseudo-characters of Alice Margatroid, Marisa Kirisame and Reimu Hakurei, in order to drain Meiling of her power; after they were defeated, Master Big Catfish revealed its true form to Meiling and explained his plans. In battle, Master Big Catfish does not use any "non-spells" and its spellcards generally involve causing earthquakes and releasing electric orbs and rocks. After Master Big Catfish and his master were defeated, Hong Meiling's scenario was revealed to be nothing more than a dream.
In M.U.G.E.N, Master Big Catfish has been made by frule; it functions as a playable boss character with slow but hard-hitting attacks, as well as having the ability to somewhat change its moveset mid-battle by 'diving underwater'.
Frule's version[]
Having successfully escaped into the real world from Hong Meiling's subconscious, Namazu has made his way into M.U.G.E.N while retaining some aspects of his Touhou Hisoutensoku appearance, such as the Spell Break mechanic and many attacks that are heavily based on said game's counterparts. Being a boss character, Namazu has low mobility and slow attacks, but is powerful enough to easily decimate an opponent Life gauge.
