Metal Sonic is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and is the evil robotic counterpart of Sonic himself. Created as a secret weapon by Dr. Eggman with the sole purpose of destroying the blue hedgehog once and for all, Metal not only highly resembles his organic doppelgänger, but is capable of matching his speed and imitating most of his moves, such as his iconic homing attack.
His first appearance was in the Sega CD game Sonic CD, wherein he kidnapped Amy Rose, whom also made her first appearance in the game, and took her to Little Planet, where he first faced and ultimately failed to defeat Sonic. Although Eggman considers him his greatest creation and one of his "magnum opuses", Metal would eventually rebel against the doctor in Sonic Heroes, where he served as the game's true villain and took on a new form known as Neo Metal Sonic, which is to date the only time where he can speak in full sentences. Despite continuously losing to Sonic in battle, he is obsessed with proving his superiority to the blue hedgehog and continues to challenge him throughout many of Eggman's schemes, making him one of Sonic's most dangerous foes.
In M.U.G.E.N, Metal Sonic has been made by various creators, but the most notable ones are Supermystery's and MUGENHunter's versions.
MUGENHunter's version

This version of Metal Sonic uses custom sprites, a four-button layout and The King of Fighters-style gameplay, like MUGENHunter's other characters. It has very low comboabilty, but it has various assists based on MUGENHunter's other Sonic characters.
Shazzo's version
Another one of the characters made for the never-finished Super Mugen Bros. project, this version of Metal Sonic has a very similar gameplay to the other Super Mugen Bros. guys, featuring slow but stronger Normals along with several frame-1 moves. Though there's a difference when it comes to Metal Sonic, by having less Specials and instead having a Power charge, which actually just fills up one Power bar while dealing self-damage, allowing for accidental K.O.s.
