Mother Brain is an artificial lifeform and major antagonist from the Metroid series, serving as both the main antagonist and final boss in the original Metroid and it's remake, Metroid: Zero Mission, and as the final boss of Super Metroid.

Originally a rogue A.I. created by the ancient Chozo race, Mother Brain decided to ally itself with the invading Ridley and the Space Pirates, turning on its creators and setting out to fulfill its desire to bring order to the universe by "resetting everything back to zero", thus wiping out any being it deems to be inferior and undeserving of life. At the end of Super Metroid, Mother Brain is destroyed for good with the destruction of Planet Zebes; however, her specifications would later serve as the basis for the Galactic Federation's Aurora Unit 313, as well as the android MB, the latter of which would exhibit aspects of Mother Brain's powers and personality and serve as the main antagonist of Metroid: Other M.

In M.U.G.E.N, Mother Brain has been made by Endoedgar and fhqwhgads7. Endoedgar's version takes on her Super Metroid Form, thus, she has two forms, whereas fhqwhgads7's version looks like her incarnation from the original Metroid, but is in fact completely unique in terms of a bossfight.

Endoedgar's version

Endoedgar's Mother Brain has two forms. Fighting against her AI is essentially a re-enactment of the final boss battle of Super Metroid. The first form (for round one) is a stationary form. She is located in a glass container, which the opponent has to break in order to attack her. Her opponent has to be quick as the arena gets filled up with acid. There is a tiny platform to avoid the acid, but the player might get knocked off it because of the projectiles she shoots out. Her second form (for round two and onwards) is her more deadly form. This forms has deadly attacks such as explosive waves, bombs, and lasers. She gradually gains more attacks as she looses health. When her health is low enough, she will start charging her laser and then fire an unavoidable Hyper Beam attack. If her opponent is low on health before the 1st Hyper Beam, they might not survive it. If the opponent manages to survive the first couple Hyper Beams, she will repeat this process until he/she is low on health. Then, a cutscene will occur. After the cutscene, both players' health will be restored, Mother Brain loses her Hyper Beam move, and her opponent will deal much more damage to her than before.
