Munchlax has a combo system similar to Elecbyte's later versions of [[Kung Fu Man]], being able to chain its grounded or aerial Normals at specific timeframes or being able to chain anything grounded but its crouching {{MK}} into a Special or Super. However, some Normals don't chain correctly; For example, its standing punches do not chain as well due to the three-frame hit advantage of its standing {{LP}} with Munchlax transitioning into the nine-frame startup of its standing {{MP}}, seeing the opponent recover six frames before it is able to attack again and potentially allowing them to block or punish it. Alongside this, it cannot combo into any of its [[Assist|assist]] specials. Munchlax also has infinite priority on most of its attacks, meaning that it will win most trades.

Munchlax can be used for setup, keepaway, or zoning, depending on the situation. All three of his assist specials, plus ''Burp Bubble'' can be used to keep good distance from the opponent and/or trap them in a specific spot, but one may prefer using ''Assist - Scraggy'' due to Scraggy's generally fast speed. ''Assist - Trubbish'' and ''Burp Bubble'' put the opponent in long times of hitstun, which allow Munchlax to run up to the opponent an use a combo, but the hitstun time of ''Burp Bubble'' depends on how far Munchlax is to the opponent, so ''Assist - Trubbish'' is likely preferred due to its indifference of stun time, alongside Munchlax's fast active time while calling the assist. Alongside these, Munchlax can use ''Tornado Spin'' or ''Electric Stick'' in a combo, but ''Tornado Spin'' is able to cancel into one of its two Hypers and still have them connect, while ''Electric Stick'' cannot have them connect due to the custom state it puts the opponent in. In terms of its Hypers, ''Crazy Tornado'' acts as an extension of its ''Tornado Spin'' move and ''Super Flame'' acts as a long-range poking attack, and both deal large amounts of damage, being enough to knock an opponent out if they have lower health than Munchlax.

Munchlax has a form of [[A.I.]] that is mostly the engine default, but has a tendency to summon its assists at random intervals. This idea may seem challenging to newer players, but can be exploited by more experienced players and beaten.

Don't cry, Kung Fu Man

Although most Munchlax tend to track down food in their spare time, this one seems to do something rather different by trying to put up fights instead. It throws out all that one would expect a Munchlax to learn and instead depends on tasers, fire breath, Mario-like spinning and friends from a later region—all of which can be used for setup and keepaway, but deal rather high amounts of damage.
Munchlax is a six-button character, using Ⓧ, Ⓐ, Ⓨ, and Ⓑ for most of its attacks and Ⓩ and Ⓒ for two of its Specials, specifically Burp Bubble and Assist - Darumaka respectively. It can run forward, hop backward, and can jump high in two ways: an air jump, activated by pressing after jumping once, and a Super Jump, acting similarly to how it is used in Marvel vs. Capcom and activated by tapping before jumping. Despite this, its crouching Ⓑ, which is its primary launcher, cannot be jump-cancelled in any way, although still launching the opponent up a high distance.
Munchlax has a combo system similar to Elecbyte's later versions of Kung Fu Man, being able to chain its grounded or aerial Normals at specific timeframes or being able to chain anything grounded but its crouching Ⓑ into a Special or Super. However, some Normals don't chain correctly; For example, its standing punches do not chain as well due to the three-frame hit advantage of its standing Ⓧ with Munchlax transitioning into the nine-frame startup of its standing Ⓨ, seeing the opponent recover six frames before it is able to attack again and potentially allowing them to block or punish it. Alongside this, it cannot combo into any of its assist specials. Munchlax also has infinite priority on most of its attacks, meaning that it will win most trades.
