Phanto Stage is a stage based on the Phanto enemies from Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic, better known in North America as Super Mario Bros. 2. Phantos are large, living masks with an evil grin, and can either be colored gold or with a red/white combination; their name comes from a shortened form of the word "phantom", likely a reference to The Phantom of the Opera.
In the original games, Phantos are semi-common enemies seen guarding keys in caves or jars. They remain immobile and harmless unless the player takes the area's key, in which case they become animate and chase them without stopping. Phanto Stage is based on rooms commonly associated with the enemies in the game, but moreso on the appearance of the rooms in the Super Mario All-Stars remake.
In M.U.G.E.N, Phanto Stage has been created by Enscripture.

The stage uses various Phanto-related assets from the Super Mario All-Stars release of Super Mario Bros. 2, as evident by the higher color count. It consists of a yellow brick floor on which the fighters stand on, a brick background with a prominent Phanto mask that has glowing red eyes, and six other Phanto masks on the left and right side of the stage.
The height of the stage is ever-so-slightly too short for Super Jumps to be visible, as they end up falling off-screen at the apex of the jump. Horizontally, the stage is of a slightly small length, but should be suitable for slower or smaller characters.
