Phoenix (real name Jean Elaine Grey) is a superheroine featured in Marvel's X-Men comics. She is also a playable character in the Marvel vs. Capcom series of games.
She is a caring mutant who was born with heightened telekinetic and telepathic powers. She has operated under the alias Marvel Girl, but her first death and subsequent rebirth made her the physical manifestation of the cosmic Phoenix Force, giving her new powers. In comics, Jean has faced death numerous times, and has been reincarnated several times after.
In M.U.G.E.N, Phoenix has been created many times by several authors.
087-B's first version

This version of Jean is inspired by her appearance in the 90's X-Men cartoon, and instead of being reignited with her Phoenix Force powers, instead she's equipped with just her base telepathic skills. Her gameplay is inspired by Marvel vs. Capcom 2, with moves pulled from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and her various other media appearances. However, she does contain a few easily loopable combos that can become infinites.

087-B's second take on Jean drastically improves on the hefty flaws found in the original. Many missing sprites are filled in, and two bugs that caused Jean to freeze or permanently guard are now fixed. Additionally, her comboability has been upped, and she's gained a new Special Move and a new level three Hyper -- gone is the Healing Field, and in its place, a Raging Demon.
