Princess Daisy, or simply Daisy, is a character from the Super Mario franchise. She is the princess of Sarasaland and typically portrayed as a tomboy. Compared to Princess Peach's calm and proper manner expected of a princess, Daisy is energetic, loud, sassy, and has a fiery temper when she doesn't get her own way. Despite her tomboyish nature, she still enjoys shopping and eating at fancy restaurants.
First introduced in the Game Boy title, Super Mario Land, Daisy was rescued by Mario after Tatanga kidnapped her and took over Sarasaland. She would not make another major appearance until Mario Tennis on the Nintendo 64. Since then, she has made relatively frequent appearances throughout the various Mario spinoffs, such as the aforementioned Mario Tennis series, Mario Kart and Mario Party. She made her Super Smash Bros. debut in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, albeit as an echo fighter of Peach. After several decades, Daisy would finally make a return to the mainline Mario series in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, where she is also playable for the first time in an official Super Mario platformer. Among her other traits, Daisy has claimed to be clumsy, which is shown in her trophy cutscene in Mario Tennis, where she falls off the stage.
In M.U.G.E.N, Princess Daisy has been created by various creators, with the most recent version being made by InSeph.
Ernesto G. Perez's second version
This version of Princess Daisy has been remade to be "more balanced," having the Marvel vs. Capcom gameplay abandoned in favor of Street Fighter inspired gameplay, using mechanics such as Custom Combos and Focus Attacks. Most of Daisy's special moves were were changed to be themed around the Mario sports games, although some attacks from the first version stayed with slight differences.
Trivia
- Ernesto G. Perez's first version featured mostly different specials compared to their second version, with a lot of her moves being based on her debut game, Super Mario Land, such as the Superball powerup and summoning assists of the common enemies faced in the game.
- This version also features a reference to the accidental bug with Daisy's trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, where she had a third eye behind her hair. If Daisy uses her parry 10 times, she gains a red shadow trail effect, and her "Third Eye" will reveal itself through her hair, creating a giant laser beam that deals massive damage if it connects.
