Red is a red-clothed, 11 year old Pokémon Trainer from the Kanto region, who is the playable character of the original Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Blue, and their remakes, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, while also appearing as an NPC Trainer in numerous other Pokémon games, most notably Pokémon Gold and Silver, Pokémon Crystal, and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, where he is fought atop Mt. Silver and acts as the true final boss of these games. Outside the Pokémon series, he has also appeared in the Super Smash Bros. series under the name of Pokémon Trainer, being a playable character in both Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, though it's his Pokémon that do the actual fighting.
In Pokémon Red and Blue and Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition, Red is the sole playable character, who travels the Kanto region catching Pokémon and collecting the 8 gym badges necessary to challenge the Elite Four at the Indigo Plateau and become the Champion of the Kanto region. During his travels, he repeatedly encounters Blue, his childhood rival, who manages to become the Champion before he can, while simultaneously encountering and defeating Team Rocket and their boss, Giovanni. In the remakes Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, his role is the same, except he is now one of two possible playable characters, the other being Leaf, his female counterpart. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, while he himself doesn't fight, Pokémon Trainer commands Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard in rotation to fight on his behalf.
In M.U.G.E.N, Red has been made by MGSSJ2 under the name of Pokemon Trainer, which is based on his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
MGSSJ2's version[]
It seems that this character is based on his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl but it isn't. His Pokémon lacks jump and block, but they can easily perform combos without giving opponents a chance to attack, and his A.I. sometimes doesn't switch Pokémon which makes opponents unable to defeat him normally.
