Roy is a character from the Fire Emblem series, appearing as the protagonist of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, though he actually debuted in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a means to promote the then-upcoming Fire Emblem title. He is a noble knight who wields the Sword Of Seals and is the son of Eliwood of Pherae.
Like Marth, Roy is mostly known in western territories for his inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Melee as an unlockable character, due to the fact that the Fire Emblem series never released outside Japan until after Super Smash Bros. Melee's release.
In M.U.G.E.N, Roy has been made by various authors; Blazer's version was made originally as part of a now-cancelled M.U.G.E.N full game known as Fire Emblem Shrine, while RMVGames' version was made as a King of Fighters-sprited character with gameplay based on Roy's Super Smash Bros. incarnation.
Blazer's version[]
Roy was originally made to be playable in a discontinued M.U.G.E.N project called Fire Emblem Shrine. While called "Master Roy", the version for Fire Emblem Shrine is anything but masterful. Its A.I. has a chronic tendency to do a whole lot of nothing.
RMVGames' version[]
After years of being disliked in competitive Smash Bros. and even the Fire Emblem fan community, Roy set out to redeem himself. The Young Lion works with a King of Fighters-oriented gameplay style with various elements from his Smash Bros. incarnation, but things may turn out in his favor due to having various infinites and OHKO attacks, the latter of which partially being due to heavily-increased stats. Now the true battle begins...
