Origin |
Sagat is a character from the Street Fighter series who made his debut in the original Street Fighter game. He is a Muay Thai practitioner with a bulky upper body and tall stature.
Sagat held the King of Muay Thai title since he was a teenager, and defended said title against Gou Hibiki, before he accidentally blinded one of his eyes. As a result of this, he entered an uncontrollable rage and severely injured Gou, leaving him to die shortly after. Much time later, Sagat hosted the first World Warrior tournament to prove he was the strongest fighter in the world. Sagat lost to Ryu, who got possessed by the Satsui no Hado, leaving a wondrous scar on Sagat's chest. Sagat swore revenge, eventually joining Shadaloo as M. Bison's bodyguard, using Shadaloo's resources to track down Ryu. He finally found Ryu and challenged him, but as he won he never felt anything, noticing that Ryu held back on the fight.
Some time later, Sagat was challenged by Dan Hibiki who wanted revenge for his father's death. Seeing himself mirrored on Dan's image, blindly following a petty revenge, Sagat let Dan defeat him. Sagat now pursues the true meaning of fight, wishing to fight Ryu again, but this time not for revenge.
In M.U.G.E.N, Sagat was made by various creators, including DivineWolf, Adamskie, and Master Gouken. A variant of Sagat known as Cornflakes Sagat exists, which replaces many of his sound clips with the "You like some cornflakes?" line from the Street Fighter cartoon, and changes the appearance of his Tiger Shots to be a box of Kellogg's Corn Flakes.
DivineWolf's version[]
Anyone familiar with Sagat would know that he is a rather threatening character; this is rather true for DivineWolf's take on the King, who is primarily based on a custom, PotS-like take on Capcom vs. SNK 2. Sagat is a bait-and-punish zoner/shoto-like hybrid with many long-range Normals, a high and low fireball, and excellent anti-airs; not without weaknesses, however, he is rather slow in movement, and does not have many options outside of his fireballs and anti-airs.
