Slightly Pissed Off Ryu (commonly abbreviated as SPO Ryu) is a joke edit of Ryu that depicts him as a hobo who had lived an unsuccessful life.
After winning the second World Warrior tournament and winning the title of "Ultimate Master of the Fist", Ryu didn't know what to do with his life. He at first opened a dojo of the Ansatsuken style and soon closed it after learning that the Saikyo-ryuu style was more popular, but then decided to start a relationship with Sakura, join a wrestling league, and finally work at a McDonalds after learning that the wrestling was fake. He later went into a deep depression after realizing his paycheck was not enough to make a decent living, and had his relationship with Sakura slowly decline due to her being more interested in other men due to his lack of sexual education. After seeing her have sex with Akuma, Ryu ran off into the dump and started living in it. He started repeatedly asking the gods to give him another chance, before finding his old gi and heading off into the streets for revenge after a month of training.[1]
In M.U.G.E.N, Slightly Pissed Off Ryu has been made by Rikard as a test to see if people would like his concept due to it being a Ryu edit. He is the most known character by Rikard, although he has stated that he had wanted to be known for his more original works rather than this.[2]
Slightly Pissed Off Ryu gameplay mostly revolves around him failing at classic attacks, making his play style much more different than the average shoto. He has a secret "Anti-Cheapo" mode in which he begins in Ultra Pissed Off mode, and it never fades.
