An update to Claymizer's first Sonic character, everyone's favourite blue hedgie is back with an all new and balanced moveset. It also sports some edited sprites, Shadow the Hedgehog as a striker, and two different voicepacks. It isn't too hard to identify why this version is more popular than the first.
Sonic is a six-button character that uses the buttons for kicks and the buttons for punches. The strength of Sonic's attacks depend on the button pressed. Much like Claymizer's other characters, Sonic plays like a Marvel vs. Capcom character, in which some features he has are the Normal chains, air chains, Super Jump and the launcher being mapped to Ⓒ while crouching. His apperance is based on Super Smash Bros. Brawl, in which Sonic has similar moves from the said game.
Sonic's comboability focuses on the chain comboing system, making Sonic a bit combo-heavy. He can cancel any of his Normals into a different Normal, which could result in a heavy combo if his crouching Ⓐ, Ⓑ and Ⓒ are cancelled into his aerial Normals from light to heavy. Cancelling his standing Ⓨ to Ⓩ can be quite difficult due to the latter Normal's speed, but it'll allow Sonic to perform a seven-hit combo if Sonic performs his standing punches from light to heavy and kicks from light to heavy at the right time. Sonic's standing Ⓧ can be also an infinite if the player keeps walking next to Sonic's opponent, as well as Ring Toss, but they must be well timed.
Sonic has six Specials and two Hypers. Spin Dash makes Sonic roll into a ball and then going fast and eventually hitting his opponent and also results in a hard knockdown and deals additional 10 damage if the opponent hits the ground. Homing Attack involves Sonic jumping, and then attacking the opponent, which tracks them during startup. Ring Toss is a projectile which sees Sonic throwing a ring to his opponent, as the name suggests. Spin Dash Up works just like his Spin Dash Special, but instead, Sonic uses it upward and doesn't do any knockdowns at all. Foot Storm is his fourth and last melee Special that is performed if the buttons are pressed three times in a row. Shadow summons Shadow as a striker and hits the opponents with a Chaos Energy, and if Shadow is hit while the move is performed, the move is cancelled and Shadow disappears. For his Hypers, Super Sonic turns Sonic into Super Sonic for a very short time and results in a hard knockdown, although the Hyper can be cancelled if Sonic is hit by a projectile while the Hyper is ongoing. Dark Sonic transforms Sonic into Dark Sonic and dashes into his opponent, and if the move connects, Sonic grabs his opponent and they take damage off-screen.
Sonic doesn't have any A.I.-specific coding, meaning he uses the default A.I., which makes him move around the stage and randomly attack, making him an easy opponent. An A.I. patch by Lillie's 音MADs remedies this, though it makes Sonic horrifically aggressive, usually using Ring Toss and Shadow when at the distance of the opponent and then will approach with Spin Dash and try to combo the opponent, usually via Sonic's aerial rave. Additionally, when the opponents block any of Sonic's Normals, he'll still try to perform a combo when close to the opponent until the opponent stops blocking, pretty much giving the opponent almost no chances to counter him. It also never uses Super Sonic and instead uses Dark Sonic when at enough Power, usually when far away from the opponent.
