The Secret Aquarium is a secret level in both Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS that can be accessed by entering a hole in the back-right wall* in the room with the painting that leads to Jolly Roger Bay. The aquarium is an enclosed area that's completely filled with water and thus has nowhere for Mario to surface and catch any air, so he is required to collect coins littered throughout the level in order to prevent himself from drowning; naturally, many schools of fish swim throughout the aquarium, which will scurry out of Mario's way should he try to swim into them. In order to collect the secret power star located here, Mario must swim around the aquarium and collect 8 red coins, then swim towards the elevated platform in the centre where the star spawns.
In M.U.G.E.N, The Secret Aquarium has been made once made by Luneth; it is made up of 3D models of the level from Super Mario 64 converted into 2D sprites.

Luneth's version of the stage uses 3D models taken from The Secret Aquarium level in Super Mario 64 and has them converted into 2D sprites, though it does away with the coins and the spinning star podium on the central elevated platform, as well as the multicoloured glass windows in favour of glass windows that share the same colour. The stage has numerous animated elements to mimic the level as it appears in the source game, such as the bubbles of varying sizes rising up from the bottom of the aquarium's floor, with the smaller bubbles typically rising faster than the larger ones; additionally, two schools of fish swim from one end of the aquarium to the other, with each individual fish slowing down when they approach a wall before turning around and continuing to swim in the opposite direction.
